What a great accomplishment, thumbs up for all. The simulations should undoubtedly continue and maybe increased in frequency to every 6 months rather than annually to keep the skills and organisation of all hospital staff up. Indeed luck played a major role, so mass education of bystanders, through the media should also be organised to achieve a similar proper response if it is to happen again but in a less prepared situation. Extensive safety pre-checks should also be a priority when organising such events, I know it’s hard especially that the criminals looked very much like any casual caucasian men.
Important reminder to always be prepared!
